Have you found that learning sign language is difficult? Maybe you have just started learning it and are feeling overwhelmed, or perhaps you’ve been trying to learn it for years and are feeling discouraged.
No matter your circumstances, learning another language can be a real challenge.
This is why ASL Basics has recently started accepting students for 1 on 1 tutoring. We often need someone that can meet our specific needs as a student and help us overcome the challenges we are facing.
In addition to helping you build up your conversational skills, we can teach you learning strategies that will drastically reduce the amount of time it takes you to become fluent in the language.
You will have the option of selecting either myself or my wife as your instructor. We both have many years experience teaching sign language, mentoring interpreters, and have a wide range of experience within the deaf community and deaf culture as a whole.
So whether you are interested in learning the language, learning how to interpret, or needing help passing a certification … we can help you.
Single Tutoring Session
Learning another language can be one of the most difficult undertakings we may ever choose to tackle. Thankfully, you don’t have to do it alone. We have helped hundreds of people over the years attain fluency in sign language.
If you would like to try out a single session to see if online tutoring is a good fit for you, you can do so right here.
Online Tutoring Program
If you are serious about wanting to overcome the challenges of learning sign language and attain fluency in as little time possible, our ongoing tutoring program is the way to go.
We adapt to your specific needs as a student and can help you develop your receptive and expressive skills in ASL. Whether you are just beginning to learn the language for the first time, would like to expand your vocabulary with more advanced signs, or would like to learn more about deaf culture, we can help you.
We are also available to coach and train those that are wanting to go into the field of interpreting. Both my wife and I are certified lead interpreters at the largest interpreting agency in Central California and have many years of experience interpreting for schools, colleges, business meetings, trainings, hospitals, clinics, plays, dramas, rallies, graduations, deaf events, and more.
We offer a variety of affordable options varying from one 30 min session a month up to weekly 45 min sessions. Choose the option that best fits your schedule, budget, and goals.

NEW: 30 Day Crash Course
Strap in and buckle up, this is going to be a fast ride! During our 30 day crash course, your vocabulary will increase exponentially, you’ll learn about how to structure sentences with proper ASL grammar and syntax, and we will teach you some advanced learning strategies that you can implement to drastically reduce the amount of time it will take you attain fluency. At the end of the course, we will help you create a system that works for you so you can continue making progress in the language in the future.
This is a four-week program and will require a lot of hard work from you. I will meet with you once a week for up to an hour to teach you advanced learning strategies, increase your vocabulary, improve your grammar, and help you learn about deaf culture.
I will be launching this program in December and will only be accepting 5 students at a time. If this is something you would be interested in, you can sign up with the link below.
Recently, I have been meeting many people from across the country that have the desire to learn ASL but do not have others to practice with. I am in the process of putting together a program that will connect students together so we can learn together as a group.
If this is something you would personally be interested in, you can send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If there is enough interest, I will go forward with creating group sessions.
